Tier 4 Student Visa

To be eligible for a UK student visa you must have obtained an offer of study in the U.K.  from a qualified education institution.

Visa requirements overview:

To be eligible for a UK student visa you must have obtained an offer of study in the U.K.  from a qualified education institution.

You must also be able to speak, read and write in English (Not applicable to ‘Child Students’) and have sufficient funds, showing that you can support yourself and pay for your course.

Depending on your circumstances, there are two routes under Tier 4 of the Points Based System which a prospective student can take;

1. Tier 4 (General) Student – To apply for this category, a prospective student must be at least 16 years of age.

2. Tier 4 (Child) Student – This category is for children between the ages of 4 and 17 coming to study at an independent/fee paying school in the United Kingdom.

Please note: Under the Tier 4 (Child) Student visa, children below the age of 12 can be accompanied to the UK by a parent or legal guardian. The parent or legal guardian must apply for a special visitor visa.

Please get the correct immigration advice before you apply for education and/or accept any offers or make travel arrangements.

The working hours a student can work will depend on when the student applied for the student visa, the course type, and the type of sponsor.

A student will be limited to working 20 hours a week during term time if studying a course at degree level or above, and full-time during vacations.

Spouses & dependents of Tier 4 Student Visa holders:

The student can apply to bring a dependent to the UK if he/she is sponsored by a higher education institution on a course at level 7 on the Ofqual register or above, lasting for 1 year or longer OR they are a new government-sponsored student on course lasting for six months or longer.

Please contact the team to discuss your options and case specific details.
