The Skilled Worker Visa UK allows eligible applicants to come and work in the UK with an approved sponsor/employer. It is designed to fill a gap in the UK labour market. 

The Skilled Worker Visa UK enables recruiters to recruit talent from all over the world. If the applicants are granted a visa, they can apply for visa extensions when the leave is expired. What is UK Skilled Worker Visa Requirements?

According to the Skilled Worker route, the qualifying criteria for UK Skilled Worker Visa works on a skilled worker visa points basis. An applicant needs to have a total of 70 points – 50 points for non-tradeable criteria and 20 points for tradeable criteria. 

Following are the non-tradeable or mandatory requirements for UK Skilled Worker Visa –

  • Have adequate English language proficiency – 10 points
  • Job offer from a licensed sponsor – 20 points 
  • Relevant skill level of RQF level 3 or above – 20 points

Following are the tradeable requirements for UK Skilled Worker Visa – 

  • Salary of £20,480 to £23,039 or at least meets 80% of the minimum salary requirement for the profession (whichever is higher) – 0 points
  • Salary of £23,040 to £25,599 or at least meets 90% of the minimum salary requirement for the profession (whichever is higher) – 10 points
  • Salary of £25,600 or above or at least meets the minimum salary requirement for the profession (whichever is higher) – 20 points
  • Have you job listed in a skilled worker visa shortage occupation list as designated by the Migration Advisory Committee – 20 points
  • PhD in a subject relevant to the job – 10 points
  • PhD in a STEM subject relevant to the job – 20 points

How to Apply for Skilled Worker Visa UK?

As stated by the UK Visas and Immigration, applicants need to submit an online application with their relevant documents. They are also required to pay the skilled worker visa application fee. Along with it, you need to submit your biometric information at the local visa processing centre. 

What are the Required UK Skilled Worker Visa Documents?

Following are the supporting documents required for Skilled Worker Visa UK – 

  • A valid passport or travel documents 
  • A certificate of Sponsorship (CoS), which is issued by the employer
  • The job offer must require a skill level at or above RQF3 (A level equivalent)
  • Evidence of meeting the required level of English language skills
  • Proof that the candidate meets the maintenance requirement, either by showing evidence of their savings or an undertaking from their employer
  • Tuberculosis test results, if your country is listed on Appendix T

In case your UK Skilled Worker visa application is refused, you have the option to apply for an Administrative Review or Judicial Review. Unfortunately, there is no provision to appeal the refusal of the Skilled Worker route application.

If you apply from inside the UK, the application fee to extend, switch or update your Skilled Worker UK visa is £704 per person for 3 years and £1,408 per person for more than three years. 

If your job is on the shortage occupation list, the application fee becomes £704 per person for 3 years and £1,408 per person for more than 3 years.
