Who is a Qualified PBS Visa Dependent?

A PBS Dependent applicant is:

  • Directly related to the applicant holding or applying to hold one of the qualifying visa routes.
  • A person who isn’t yet qualified for Indefinite Leave to Remain, is related to the main applicant.

Eligibility Criteria 

  • Spouse and you aged 18+ and above, in a legally recognised marriage.
  • Unmarried partner with whom you have been living for 2 years continuously, with the PBS visa holder. 
  • A minor child, who is under 18 and unmarried at the time of filing the first visa application.

To qualify as a dependent of a PBS visa holder, you can apply online for leave to enter if you are outside the UK, or leave to remain if you are present in the UK with legal status. Required Documents for PBS Dependent Visa UK

  • Proof of relationship with the PBS Visa holder –
    • Civil Partnership or Marriage Certificate
    • Joint bank statements in both names 
    • Shared Council tax bills in both names
    • Shared Utility bills in both names
  • Your bank statement covering 90-days transactions before filing the application
  • Criminal Record Certificate if you’re applying for an entry clearance as a spouse or partner of a Tier 1 Investor, Skilled worker or any point based scheme.
  • Evidence of sufficient funds for maintenance
  • Certificate of Sponsorship of a PBS worker (if applicable)

What Else Do I Need to Know About a PBS Dependent Visa?

If your application for a Family Member of a PBS Migrant visa is effective, you will mostly be allowed leave w.r.t the expiry date of the PBS migrant’s leave. If the PBS migrant is granted indefinite leave to remain, you will be given a three years’ leave. You can later apply for an additional leave, whenever needed, for your qualification period of 5 years and then apply for indefinite leave to remain. 

If the main applicant changes business or institution, PBS dependents can stay in the UK until their visa expires.

FAQs

PBS dependent applications outside the UK are processed around 3 months, however, the period may vary with the processing centres. If you’re applying for a PBS Dependent Visa extension or switching to a PBS Dependent Visa within the UK, the standard processing may take up to 8 weeks. Under paid-for-priority services, you can get your visa in 10 days. 

If the main applicant has been granted an indefinite leave to remain, you can stay in the UK till your PBS Visa expires. If the main applicant hasn’t been granted indefinite leave to remain, you would be granted a three-year leave. You can later apply to extend your visa and get permission for indefinite leave to remain yourself.

If you’re applying online for a PBS dependent visa, the application costs £610. If you’re applying for an extension or switching to a dependent visa, the standard costs are £704 per person online and premium costs are £1,314 per person.
